*OOPS stands for Out of Pattern Submission

Fraudulent transactions will occur and businesses must continue to adopt creative online fraud solutions. Zappte provides its own specialized fraud protection intelligence application within the gateway. Each setting option available is considered a tool.

All of the "OOPS Tools" have the choice of:

  • Sponsor Bank level
  • Merchant Category Code level
  • Merchant ID level
  • Terminal ID level activation.

OOPS Tool functionality and settings are overridden by priority with the highest priority being:

  • Bank
  • MCC
  • MID
  • TID

While all rules push downward in priority, one may also remove any individual rule manually at each level. Below are some of the more popular options available today:

Transaction Card Attempt (PAN/TOKEN):

Options include the ability to identify any card repeated within XX minutes, XX days, and XX months. Once over the prescribed limit, the gateway will DECLINE the current transaction and DECLINE any additional transactions of any type for that card number before Authorization is attempted.

Transaction $ Amount:

Options include the ability to identify any transaction amount repeated with XX minutes, XX days, and XX months. Once over the prescribed limit, the gateway will DECLINE the current transaction and DECLINE any additional transactions of any type for this amount before Authorization is attempted.

Maximum Transaction # VOIDS (REVERSAL)

Options include the ability to identify any VOID transactions repeated with XX minutes, XX days, and XX months. Once over the prescribed limit, the gateway will DECLINE the current transaction and DECLINE any additional VOID transactions before Authorization is attempted.

# Transactions Declined:

Options include the ability to identify any DECLINED transactions repeated with XX minutes, XX days, and XX months. Once over the prescribed limit, the gateway will disable the current Terminal ID (TID) in the gateway before Authorization is attempted.

Capture Amount Higher Than Authorization Amount:

Options include the ability to select Exact Match Required meaning the Capture amount and the Authorization amount must be the same or the ability to allow the Capture a set tolerance of XX% of the original Authorization. The rule will only apply to higher Capture amounts and ignore any Capture that is lower than the first Authorization amount.

The gateway will DECLINE the Capture transaction attempt when the criteria is not met before Authorization is attempted. This is especially helpful for business operations with shipping logistics.

CVV AUTO-Decline with Authorization and Sale VOID (REVERSE_AUTH)

The User may set a check for any Authorization or Sale transaction that does not produce an acceptable CVV (Card Verification Value) response from the card brands. The acceptable options may be set as a single code or allow for multiple codes. When the parameter is not met, the transaction will be immediately voided by the gateway sending a Reverse_Auth to the processor with a Decline message code back to the point of sale.

AVS AUTO-Decline with Authorization VOID (REVERSE_AUTH)

The User may set a check for any Authorization or Sale transaction that does not produce an acceptable AVS (Address Verification Svc) response from the card brands. The acceptable options may be set as a single code or allow for multiple codes. When the parameter is not met, the transaction will be immediately voided by the gateway sending a Reverse_Auth to the processor with a Decline message code back to the pos.

Maximum Transaction $ Amount with Auto-Decline

The User may set a maximum transaction dollar amount. When the maximum dollar value is exceeded, the gateway will Decline the current transaction before the formal Authorization is attempted at the Card Brands.

Minimum Transaction $ Amount with Auto-Decline:

The User may set a minimum transaction dollar amount. When the minimum dollar value is exceeded, the gateway will Decline the current transaction before the formal Authorization is attempted at the Card Brands.

Maximum Transaction # Per Day with Auto-Decline:

The User may set a maximum # of transactions per day. When the maximum # is exceeded, the gateway will Decline the current transaction before the formal Authorization is attempted at the Card Brands.

Maximum Transaction $ Cumulative Amount Per Day:

The User may set a maximum cumulative transaction dollar amount, per 24hr day clock. When the maximum $ is exceeded, the gateway will Decline the current transaction before the formal Authorization is attempted at the Card Brands.

Maximum Transaction $ Cumulative Amount Per Month:

The User may set a maximum cumulative transaction dollar amount per calendar month. When the maximum $ is exceeded, the gateway will Decline the current transaction before the formal Authorization is attempted at the Card Brands.
